On May 11, 2009 at the BC Lupus Society Annual General Meeting, elections will be held for Directors of the Society. The director slate is composed of the following individuals:
Diana Buric for Vice President
Diana joined the Lupus Society Board in September 2009. She was looking for new opportunities for community involvement and was drawn to the Lupus Society by the fact that many of her friends have been touched by Lupus in a variety of ways. Diana is currently the Director of Leisure, Volunteer and Building Services at Haro Park Centre, a senior's facility located in Vancouver's west end. Prior to taking on her current role Diana held positions in fundraising and member services in the post secondary and not-for-profit sectors.
Josie Bradley for President
Josie Bradley became a board member of the BC Lupus Society in November, 2003 and was elected Vice President in 2005. Josie is an Information Technology Management consultant, IT project manager and business analyst with over 25 years in the industry, holding executive positions such as Vice President IT and Administration at Mark Anthony Group, Director of IT at Premium Brands, and Director of I.S. at Fletcher’s Fine Foods. In addition to significant focus on The Lupus Society, Josie continues to provide IT expertise, and designs and supports websites for various not for profits. She also volunteers extensively in sport as a Softball BC Senior District Coordinator and is manager/coach of a junior women’s rep fastpitch team. After a number of years of unexplained health issues, Josie was formally diagnosed with Lupus in 2002.
Kathleen Mason for Secretary
Kathleen Mason has worked in the co-op sector as an administrator, housing co-ordinator, auditor and manager, working with and training Boards of Directors of Housing Co-operatives. After being diagnosed with lupus, she joined the BC Lupus Society in an effort to learn more about lupus, and has been attending Symposia for several years. Once her lupus stabilized, she trained as an ESL teacher and fulfilled her dream of travelling to China to live and teach. She has also volunteered with community organizations to teach English to refugee claimants.
Maureen Roberts for Director at Large
Samantha Mayovsky for Treasurer
Samantha Mayovsky joined the BC Lupus Society and became a Board Member in February, 2009. Samantha is a Chartered Accountant with over nine years of accounting and financial experience. Samantha began articling at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999, and was a Vice President in the Corporate Finance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers prior to joining Catalyst Paper where she currently works as a Business Analyst. Samantha’s volunteer experience includes chairing the PricewaterhouseCoopers United Way Campaign as well as marketing for the Vancouver Sun Run.
