Burnaby Central Park 5k/10k RUN         Saturday May 10, 2008

The World Lupus Day 10K and 5K Runs were held in Burnaby on the morning of Saturday, May 10th.  On a perfect running day, the congenial group of runners wove in and out of the lush trails around beautiful Central Park.  This event proved to be a great opportunity for connecting with people and providing information about lupus.

The runners and volunteers enjoyed the music, refreshments, and the gift bags given to all of those who participated.  There were 3 women with lupus who finished the run; event organizer Susan Milliken (great job Susan!), Cheryl from Victoria who placed first of all women and Leisa Cadotte who completed the run in good time even though she had been in the hospital the previous day.  Everyone left with the flashy new lupus butterfly shirts - the latest lupus fashion piece!
